About Us

Welcome to Bank of Colorado, where you experience banking the way it should be.

Here we still believe in personal banking relationships. Over the last century, we’ve grown from a small, rural, community bank into a strong and modern regional organization with $5.11 billion in assets. But unlike many banks today, we still regard old-fashioned, neighborly customs—like greeting you by name and being involved in community events—as meaningful and important. We treat our customers like neighbors, and we find they reward us with great loyalty.

This makes us a little different, but we think it’s good business. We hope you agree.

Our roots in the state and region go back to early last century. The Bank of Fort Lupton opened its doors in Colorado in 1900 and grew a loyal customer base in several locations in Colorado. Then in the 1930s in Palmer, Nebraska, another bank was started by a local cattle rancher and farmer named George Dinsdale. It grew steadily in Nebraska’s rural communities, eventually becoming Pinnacle Bancorp.

In 1978, the two banks found they had a lot in common and merged into the Pinnacle Bancorp, keeping their local names. In 1998, the Colorado banks officially became Bank of Colorado, which now serves 22 communities throughout the state. Tom Goding is the president.

Today, this merging of community banks into one strong organization gives you a unique opportunity to enjoy large-bank resources along with small-bank, family-run values. Sid Dinsdale, the founder’s grandson, serves as president of Pinnacle Bancorp, which serves commercial, consumer and agricultural markets in over 100 locations across Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Texas, Missouri, Iowa and Kansas. Keeping with our vision, each local bank acts with significant autonomy to best serve its customers and community.

With our local roots and neighborly style of banking, we’re proud to say we’re "Distinctively different. Distinctively Colorado."

We hope you enjoy the difference a family-run bank, deeply rooted in Colorado, can make in your life and community.
